History of Dilaram Tea Estate
Dilaram Tea Estate was established in the 1890 by Mr Bell. Initially the garden was collectively owned by the eight sterling companies but was merged because of some amendment to the Indian Acts. It was merged with other Darjeeling tea gardens under the Amoorie India Limited, after the year 1978.
Location of Dilaram Tea Estate
Dilaram Tea Estate is located along the banks of river Rinchengtong, in the valleys of Kurseong sub-division of Darjeeling district, located at about 8 kilometers from Kurseong town.
It is marked by Ringtong Tea Estate in the west, Margaret’s Hope Tea Estate in the south west and Edenvale Tea Estate in the south. The tea estate has tea cultivation starting at an elevation from 2200 feet to as high as 5900 feet above the sea level.
Ownership of Dilaram Tea Estate
Dilaram Tea Estate is presently managed under the Amgoorie India Limited which is owned by the Goodricke Group. Amgoorie India Limited has the following tea estate of Darjeeling under its management, namely, Margaret’s Hope Tea Estate, Castleton Tea Estate, Springside Tea Estate, Edenvale Tea Estate (Maharani).
