History of Badamtam Tea Estate:

Badamtam tea estate, which produces the best Darjeeling Teas, was first planted by Christine Barnes in the year 1858 and was commercially started by Lebong Tea Company in late 1860s.

 

Location of Badamtam Tea Estate:

Badamtam Tea Estate is located in the LebongValley, 17 kilometers west of the Darjeeling town, facing the Himalayan range, the mighty Kanchenjunga which is also one reason why this tea estate produces one of the best Spring teas in the world. The tea estate starts from the end of the two estates viz., Bada Ging Tea Estate and Chhota Ging Tea Estate, till the Majhi Tar basin in Sikkim across the RangitRiver where a suspension bridge over Rangit river links the Badamtam tea garden to Sikkim.

The estate is situated at an altitude ranging between 305 metres to 1830 metres above sea level.

The name of the estate, could have been derived from a Lepcha word, which means a bamboo water carrier.

The Darjeeling Teas produced from Badamtam Tea Estate are of  excellent  qualities delighting all Darjeeling tea lovers with its unique characteristics . Its first flush teas are globally popular and are highly prized globally.

Ownership of Badamtam Tea Estate

Badamtam Tea Estate is managed and owned by Goodricke Group Limited, which was recently ranked as number one Darjeeling Tea Brand in Kolkata by Nielson for the second quarter of 2012.

The Company was incorporated in the State of West Bengal, India on 14th June 1977 as a public limited company under the provisions of the Companies Act 1956 (Act).
